In the summer, insects invade us, whether in our garden or at home. We do not know how to keep them away and treat them. Nevertheless, using an essential oil in diffusion or in spraying can be very effective depending on the case, either as a natural repellent or as an insecticide. So, here are the essential oils to choose to fight against harmful insects and mites.
Contents
1) Ants, caterpillars, psyllids and spiders
We use peppermint and spearmint essential oil to eliminate all these insects.
2) Aphids
There are many solutions to scare them away without chemicals. First of all, there is still peppermint and spearmint. However, there is also cedar and fennel essential oil to fight aphids.
3) Beetle
To fight the beetle, use peppermint essential oil or thyme essential oil.
4) Fleas
Against fleas, use lavender aspic essential oil and lemongrass essential oil. Peppermint and spearmint are always useful, even for fleas. Beware essential oils are dangerous for cats.
5) Flies
Flies are very common and unpleasant flying insects as soon as the weather returns. Use lavender essential oil, rosemary essential oil, sage essential oil or peppermint essential oil to eliminate them. And like the flower in a planter, rose geranium or basil essential oil are also great for repelling insects and scaring away flies.
6) Gnats
For unwanted midges, opt for spearmint or patchouli essential oil.
7) Lice
This is the bête noire of children (and parents as soon as the school year starts!). Choose peppermint or spearmint oil to eradicate these little beasts. Cedarwood essential oil is also a good way to eliminate lice. Remember to dilute your essential oils in a vegetable oil before application. The vegetable oil (coconut oil, etc.) will suffocate the lice and nits.
8) Mosquitoes
These biting insects invade us in the summer, and we look in vain for ways to eliminate them. To fight against mosquitoes, take lemongrass or lavender to repel them. Alternatively, you can keep mosquitoes away with lemon eucalyptus essential oil and its very powerful repellent effect on these biting insects in particular!
9) Moths
They pierce our clothes, and we have difficulty in eliminating them. For that there are several solutions. Cedar, fennel, lavender, peppermint or spearmint are effective in removing moths.
10) Slugs
Against slugs, you can use cedar essential oil, fennel essential oil or pine essential oil to effectively repel these bugs.
11) Snails
They occur in October, during the period of heavy rains. Snails can be kept away from plantations with cedar essential oil, pine essential oil or patchouli essential oil.
12) Ticks
Ticks can be eliminated with lavender essential oil, citronella essential oil, sage essential oil or thyme essential oil.
